Presidential Scare Tactics – This Time Health Care

8 years ago, Americans we scared by our President into believing weapons of mass destruction were in Iraq. Today our President is using the same scare tactics to make American’s believe health care is the new evil in our world.

On 9/11 American soil was attacked, yet President Bush still needed another cause to get American’s to support attacking those that attacked us. The deaths of innocent Americans were not enough. So weapons of mass destruction became the cause.

President Obama is following the same path with health care but his crisis isn’t affecting the majority of Americans. Since the health care problems are not on TV 24 x 7 (as the 9/11 destruction was), Obama is have a very difficult time convincing anyone his crisis is real. So Obama is resulting to scare tactics as did Bush.

We all read the stories in print and hear them constantly on the TV. Everyone with a point of view on health care, including those creating profits from drugs, are spending millions of dollars scaring American’s into confusion.

The health care debate doesn’t have a common thread like WMD to inflame Americans. Health care means something different. The majority of American’s have health care paid for in-part by their employer or union. It is not easy to get millions who have what they want to agree to pay for what a few don’t have.

As I wrote here, the problem is the “cost of health care” but we don’t hear how to reduce the cost. You can’t get the majority of the members of Congress or the American people to get behind a cause if they don’t understand the solution.

Without a real visible crisis that actually affects the majority of American’s, nothing will be done about health care.
