170% Increase in Social Security taxes since 1996.
(What used to be FICA now is called OASDI.)
So much for “less tax on those making less than $250,000 per year”. The Government wants us to believe that taxes are less. But the reality is they are definitely more. For those Americans fortunate to make more than $60K and less than $250K, their taxes have substantially doubled.
In 1996 you were not required to pay taxes on any income above $62,700. In 2009, that number increased to $106,800. We hear that nothing is being done to protect social security yet the social security taxes continue to increase.
