Obama’s Health Plan Will Not Pass

Obama’s Health Plan Will Not Pass

President Obama is spending a lot of time away from more important “presidential” issues while he is focused on health care programs that will never pass. Why?

1) The majority of Americans are already covered which makes his prorgam a true social welfare project.

2 )In all his public speaking engagements he is not describing the program which is confusing the American public. Do you know the details of his program?

Lets look at who is NOT  covered – The majority of Americans:

  • American union worker’s all have a health program. Unions are a big supporter of democratic causes but there is little benefit to union workers in Obama’s plan.
  • American worker’s who work for large companies are covered.
  • 81% of the elderly are covered my Medicare. Obama’s plan increases covered for the elderly by only 13%.

Who is covered – the minority of Americans:

  • 13% of the elderly
  • Illegal immigrants
  • American workers who work for small businesses
  • American’s with pre-existing conditions

The #1 problem with Obama’s program is it only improves the lives of the minority of American’s – a small group of voters. If the public were to vote on his program (Not Congress), it would easily fail.

Here’s proof the above is correct – two quotes targeted to low income group:

“Individuals and families with annual income up to 400 percent of poverty level”

“The federal-state insurance program for the poor would be expanded starting in 2013 to cover all non-elderly individuals with incomes up to 133 percent of the federal poverty level ($14,404).”

According to the Associated Press, there are major hurdles any health program must overcome if the majority of Americans are to support any government sponsored improvements. Here’s why:

1) “REQUIREMENTS FOR INDIVIDUALS: Individuals must have insurance, enforced through tax penalty with hardship waivers. The penalty is 2.5 percent of income.” How would someone who can’t afford health insurance pay an additional 2.5% in income tax?

2) “REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYERS: Employers must provide insurance to their employees or pay a penalty of 8 percent of payroll. Companies with payroll under $250,000 annually are exempt. That level could rise to $500,000 under a deal between House leaders and fiscal conservatives.”

“Employers could apply for a two-year exemption from the mandate if they can prove the requirements would result in job losses that would negatively affect their communities.”

This would require smaller companies to spend time and energy managing reports they have to file with the government. And if the reporting system works as well as other programs, i.e., the digital conversion program, or the Cash for Clunkers, we can only imagine this reporting process will be lengthy and time consumer. Which will cost more, (therefore putting more people on unemployment) paying the insurance or complying with the regulations?

Since the groups Omaba intends to help are the minority, there is little support from the majority of Americans. It will take massive changes to Obama’s plan for him to have more success than Clinton did.

Obama should be focused on the #1 problem – the cost of health care. Addressing this problem solves the problem for everyone, not just the minority of American’s.  In our business economy, companies have to return sustantial profits for their investors. Therefor doctors, hospitals and drug companies charge the highest fee’s in the world. Why? Becuase even Americans in poverty make more money than the majority of the rest of the world. It is s simple equation of supply and demand combined with the requirement to return profits to their investors.

No health plan will be passed until a program is presented that benefits the majority of Americans. Is there such a program?
